The Jacksonville Port authority is seeking to fill a part-time tier 1 Technical Support Position.

* Requirements:
. Currently enrolled in an Information Technology related program (E.G. CS, CIS, CIT, EE).
. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
. Ability to apply fundamental informatics concepts to real-world problems.
. Working knowledge of IP networks, operating systems, and common office productivity applications.
. Familiarity with PC hardware, including common troubleshooting techniques.
. Strong people skills and the ability to educate end-users.
. A flexible schedule and be willing to work during off-hours (when required).
. Work well in a team and be able to work independently on projects with little to no hand-holding.
* Beneficial Knowledge:
. Microsoft Active Directory and/or LDAP familiarity.
. Experience packaging, deploying, and updating desktop applications on Windows.
. Fundamental knowledge of Linux command line and OS.
. BASH, power-shell, wscript, etc.
. A strong interest in automating common maintenance tasks.
* Typical Duties:
This position will frequently require close interaction with end-users, troubleshooting a wide variety of hardware and software issues, researching and implementing concepts and technologies, the opportunity to participate in projects that are outside the applicant’s day-to-day routine, and much more.
