Helpdesk Support Specialist

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

This part-time temporary position requires student enrollment in an Information Technology related program.  The position is responsible for providing technical support related to the installation, configuration, use, and management of approved hardware and software.  The incumbent serves as a front-line service provider to end-users to ensure the effective and efficient use of JAXPORT’s computer systems.  Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software issues.  Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and/or LDAP, Linux command line and OS, BASH, power-shell and experience packaging, deploying and updating desktop applications on Windows is beneficial for this position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Position requires current enrollment in an Information Technology related program (i.e., E.G. CS, CIS, CIT, EE) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Position requires strong communication skills, both oral and written.  Must be able to work independently and solve problems while focusing on customer/end-user needs. Experience with operating systems, IP networks and common office productivity applications used in a corporate environment, such as Microsoft Office applications, printers and specialized packages, preferred.  Must possess a positive attitude and the ability to work in a team environment.  Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
