PRIMARY CHARACTERISTICS

The Associate Engineer provides troubleshooting and problem resolution to end users through call center or onsite support. Also assists with system modifications to reduce issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • IT Support Service Staff responds to and diagnoses problems through discussions with users. These include problem identification, research, isolation, resolution and follow up
  • Responsible for resolving issues of all types and complexity
  • Documents, tracks and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution
  • Recommends system modifications to reduce user problems
  • Participates in projects involving functional areas including data control, applications and system development, data coordination, data security administration, systems administration, testing and technical support
  • May analyze, plan, design and install new personal computer systems and review/monitor upgrades needed for existing server systems
  • Determines user specifications for hardware and software
  • May document, maintain and upgrade/replace server hardware and software systems
  • May deploy workstations to end users
  • May require 24/7 on call responsibility
  • May be required to lift 25 lbs. or more

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of Information Technology field and computer systems
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities
  • Logical, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to escalate to Desktop, Server and Network Engineering Teams
  • Ability to work well with a variety of end users
  • Logical approach with appropriate troubleshooting questions to the end users
  • Positive and helpful approach
  • Flexible team player
  • Ability to monitor and diagnose problem in a timely fashion

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Must possess some general IT knowledge and technical aptitude
  • Experience with designated systems or software may be required. Such requirements will accompany the job posting
  • Experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • Microsoft, Linux and VMware knowledge/experience preferred
