The Jacksonville Port Authority is seeking to fill a temporary part-time Helpdesk Support Specialist Position.<\/p>\n

\n. Participate in projects dealing with topics across the IT spectrum.
\n. Pays $12.00\/hour.<\/p>\n
* Requirements:
\n. Currently enrolled in an Information Technology related program (E.G. CS, CIS, CIT, EE).
\n. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
\n. Working knowledge of IP networks, operating systems, and common office productivity applications.
\n. Familiarity with PC hardware, including common troubleshooting techniques.
\n. Strong people skills and the ability to educate end-users.
\n. A flexible schedule and be willing to work during off-hours (when required).
\n. Work well in a team and be able to work independently on projects with little to no supervision.
\n. Must have a valid driver’s license.
\n. GPA of 3.0 or higher.<\/p>\n
* Beneficial Knowledge:
\n. Microsoft Active Directory and\/or LDAP familiarity.
\n. Experience packaging, deploying, and updating desktop applications on Windows.
\n. Fundamental knowledge of the Linux command line and OS.
\n. BASH, power-shell, scripting in general.
\n. A strong interest in automating common maintenance tasks.<\/p>\n
* Typical Duties:
\nThis position will frequently require close interaction with end-users, troubleshooting a wide variety of \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 hardware and software issues, researching and implementing concepts and technologies, the opportunity to \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 participate in projects that are outside the applicant’s day-to-day routine, and much more.<\/p>\n
The ideal applicant for this position will be detailed oriented, thorough, hard-working, able to receive \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 constructive criticism and objectively analyze how to put the information to good use, be willing to stand \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ground until proven wrong, and must have a strong desire to work smarter-not-harder.<\/p>\n
