The Jacksonville Port authority is seeking to fill a part-time tier 1 Technical Support Position.<\/p>\n

* Requirements:
\n. Currently enrolled in an Information Technology related program (E.G. CS, CIS, CIT, EE).
\n. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
\n. Ability to apply fundamental informatics concepts to real-world problems.
\n. Working knowledge of IP networks, operating systems, and common office productivity applications.
\n. Familiarity with PC hardware, including common troubleshooting techniques.
\n. Strong people skills and the ability to educate end-users.
\n. A flexible schedule and be willing to work during off-hours (when required).
\n. Work well in a team and be able to work independently on projects with little to no hand-holding.<\/p>\n
* Beneficial Knowledge:
\n. Microsoft Active Directory and\/or LDAP familiarity.
\n. Experience packaging, deploying, and updating desktop applications on Windows.
\n. Fundamental knowledge of Linux command line and OS.
\n. BASH, power-shell, wscript, etc.
\n. A strong interest in automating common maintenance tasks.<\/p>\n
* Typical Duties:
\nThis position will frequently require close interaction with end-users, troubleshooting a wide variety of hardware and software issues, researching and implementing concepts and technologies, the opportunity to participate in projects that are outside the applicant’s day-to-day routine, and much more.
\nThe ideal applicant for this position will have the following character traits: honest, thorough and detailed oriented, hard-working, the ability to take constructive criticism and objectively analyze how to put it to good use, be willing to stand their ground until proven wrong, and must have a strong desire to work smarter-not-harder.<\/p>\n
