As Associate Director of the Center for International Education (CIE), Dr. Cynthia Robinson provides our faculty, staff and students opportunities to participate in cultural activities and exchanges, teach and learn through globally focused coursework, support educational goals for study and service abroad, and develop engagement with the international community represented both in Jacksonville and abroad. Through her leadership, the CIE is expanding its programs and opening its borders to a wider range of cultural opportunities and experiences. The CIE will hold its inaugural International Education Week Mini-Conference on November 3-4 of this year, is actively expanding the Global Scholars Distinction program through inclusion of early college and dual-enrollment students, and working alongside faculty to globalize more courses throughout all disciplines. Things are very exciting indeed.
Dr. Robinson’s career began in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education; she then earned a Master’s in Educational Leadership in 2008, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership in 2016. She holds an educator certificate from the State of Florida Department of Education with multiple endorsements including educational leadership. Throughout her career, she quickly progressed into leadership roles which eventually opened the door for her to serve as the international program director for a local private school for nine years. For more than ten years, she worked as an associate professor for a local private college.
Dr. Robinson has more than 25 years in education and a specialized background in developing global relations at the foreign and domestic levels. She serves on the board for Jacksonville Sister Cities Association (JSCA) working specifically with PR and Communications, is a delegate for the Changwon, South Korea Committee, and serves as Chair of the Annual 9/11 Peace Concert held at St. John’s Cathedral. Dr. Robinson also works with Educatius as a local coordinator to help oversee and support homestay placements for international students studying in local high schools. Over the years, she has traveled to more than 30 countries throughout the Middle East, Asia and Europe, doing community work and educational collaborations.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Robinson loves to travel and continues to expand her horizons through continuing education. She is currently taking Beginning French at FSCJ and all three of her children attend the College as well. As a Jacksonville native, Dr. Robinson is overjoyed to utilize her experience and her connections to develop a stronger global community within the city and within FSCJ.
